The Scott Spyglass system by Teledyne detects multiple combustible hydrocarbon gases simultaneously such as C1-C8 hydrocarbons (Methane, Ethane, Ethylene, Propane, Propylene, n-butane, Isobutane, 1, 3-butadiene, Isobutylene, Alkanes, Alkenes, Naphthenes, Benzenes).
It works by analysing the absorption of radiation caused by gases in the atmosphere and comparing it to background atmospheric absorption. Using two units, a Flash Source and Detector that can monitor a distance of up to 200 metres.
Spyglass Gas Detectors are robustly designed and can handle the toughest environments: circuit boards are epoxy coated for protection; MIL-C-810C testing for humidity, salt, fog, vibration, mechanical shock and temperature extremes; and SIL-2 approval per IEC61508 is a final statement in reliability.
The Spyglass system can replace twenty line of sight point gas detectors, saving up-front costs and ongoing maintenance costs. There are only two units to service, and the maintenance requirements are minimal. The only consumable is the Spyglass Xenon Flash Bulb.
